The children once again celebrated Lunar New at Fo Guang Shan (Singapore). In year 2020, we were honoured to sure this joyful occasion with trainee teachers from Nanhua University (Taiwan). The event kicked off with a K2 lion dance performance amidst the bustling sound of firecrackers and drums while the Venerables were ushered in to enjoy the show.
After the performance, the children, teachers and staff with two mandarin oranges each took turn to kneel down and greet the venerables with blessing and well wishes. More dancing and singing by the children followed and everyone was immersed in the festive mood with lots of laughter and applause. the highlight of the celebration was again the tradition of Yu Sheng or Lo Hei (tossing up good fortune). It began with Venerable Miao Mu (Deputy Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Singapore) giving auspicious well wishes and gradually everyone joined in to toss the ingredients while saying auspicious phrases , besides the Lo Hei ingredients, a sumptuous meal was also provided for everyone.
